Kemiko® Color Enhancing
Acrylic Sealer

Floor systems
(39C-1)
Description
Kemiko Color Enhancing Acrylic Sealer (39C-1) is a low solids, single component, deep penetrating
solvent based sealer. This product is a user-friendly, non-yellowing, UV-resistant, durable, clear, and
high gloss film that will protect against efflorescence and weathering exposure to sun, salt and rain.
This color-enhancing sealer provides a protective and easy-to-clean wet-look concrete surface
while still allowing the concrete to breathe.
Applications
Kemiko Color Enhancing Acrylic Sealer (39C-1) is well-suited for interior or exterior applications
that require a high gloss floor appearance while still maintaining the texture of the underlying
material. Typical commercial and residential applications are: concrete floors (including stenciled,
stamped and acid stained) terrazzo, driveways, sidewalks, patios, garage floors, concrete pavers,
concrete overlays, and porous stone.
Surface Preparation
Concrete
Surface must be cured, dry and free from stains and laitance. All visible oil, grease or any other
contaminants must be removed prior to application of coating. Surface preparation includes using
concrete grinding and shot blasting to achieve a surface profile of CSP 3. The concrete should have a
slight texture for the coating to achieve proper penetration and adhesion. Clean surface and ensure
that all dust, debris, and contaminants have been removed. Check concrete preparation by applying
water over a small area of the concrete surface (especially in areas that had oil and grease stains).
If water beads on the surface, additional surface preparation is needed. If concrete darkens with no
water beading on the surface, then the surface is ready to be coated. It is advisable to test a small
area with sealer before starting the job to ensure that the substrate is compatible with this sealer
choice.
Existing Coatings
Surface must be cured, dry and free from stains and laitance. All visible oil, grease or any other
contaminants must be removed prior to application of coating. For best adhesion, the existing
coating must be scuffed with a nonwoven abrasive pad, floor buffer with abrasive screen, or orbital
sander with sandpaper (80-120 grit) to achieve a rough surface profile. Clean area and wipe
existing coating with a rag and acetone to ensure that all oil, grease, or any other contaminants
have been successfully removed. If existing coating is not a Kemiko product, consult with a Kemiko
representative prior to application.
Warning: Wear a NIOSH approved respirator to control toxin exposure. Scraping, sanding or removing
old paint may release toxic lead dust. Exposure may lead to serious illness, such as brain damage,
especially in children. Pregnant women should avoid exposure. Clean up carefully with a HEPA
vacuum and a wet mop.
Mixing Instructions
Shake well prior to use. No additional mixing instructions are required.
Application Methods
Great care should be taken when using this product. Contents are flammable. Ensure no sources of
ignition are in proximity to the product prior to application. Turn off any pilot lights, water heaters or
any other auto-ignition sources in the area. Do not smoke around the product while applying or while
it is drying. This product can be applied using several different methods outlined below. Tape off any
area that does not require a coating. Ensure proper ventilation prior to application of product. Apply
1-2 even coats at the recommended wet film thickness, allowing up to 5 hours after dry to touch
state has been reached between coats. Do not let material puddle. Do not thin material.
